The Student Journey

Our roots here in beautiful Bahrain, our richly diverse community and our world-leading, award-winning education mean St Christopher’s School is the place to be!

We are fortunate to have world class facilities in which to learn and play, and our strive for continuous development means that we are always looking at ways of improving the learning experience for the children, whether through research-based practice, implementation of innovative teaching methods or the enhancement of our physical resources. We are a forward-thinking school which does not ‘sit still’.

Every week there is something exciting happening in our School: from Pirate Day to Global Citizen Day; from dinosaur hunting in our ‘VR’ goggles to assembly performances - all of which contribute to making our school a very special place to learn.

Our vision in the Infant School is to use our St Christopher’s play-based learning approach to build a solid foundation, enabling our students to become role models for the world. We believe our role is to instil in our children a deep love of learning and equip them with essential skills to be a life-long successful learner. We teach children to be responsible for themselves, fostering independence, and to take responsibility on a wider scale, such as tackling environmental issues.

Our ‘6C’s’ are our 6 core St Christopher’s values which we foster in all of our students, which are curiosity, creativity, confidence, compassion, courage and commitment. We have hexagonal stickers for each of these which our children love to collect. These values are central to everything we teach and they ensure our students all become ‘Role Models for the World’.

In the Infant School we have 4 Golden Rules which underpin our teaching and create an environment where children thrive whilst feeling safe, happy and loved. Our behaviour policy is based around a positive approach to behaviour management.

There are 4 Golden Rules in the Infant School - Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful and Be Responsible.

We expect that all adults and children act in a safe, kind, respectful and responsible manner and we reward children for demonstrating our Golden Rules by giving them a 'Praise Postcard'. The children love to receive our postcards and they are a great talking point for at home, so that parents can reaffirm their child's actions with additional praise. There is a card specifically for each Golden Rule and so our children love to create a collection of all four!

Our Future Ready Curriculum

Our Future Ready Curriculum (FRC), unique to St Christopher’s students which focuses on ensuring excellence in academics, metacognition, wellbeing, service, digital and enterprise - all vital components of a future ready education. The foundations for this level of achievement are all laid down and solidified here in the Infant School and built upon in the Junior School.

Learning in the Junior School is rooted in the St Christopher’s core values of Caring, Honesty and Mutual respect. Students develop their independence as they progress through the Junior School where along with their class treacher, specialist teachers in Computing, Design Technology, Art and French, each experts in their field, inspire the children and prepare them for the transition to Senior education.

In the Junior School, we continue to focus on developing the whole child through extensive opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to get involved in team sports, music and drama performance with all activities inclusive in nature. We are proud that all students who are involved in our team sports programme have an opportunity to represent the school in competition.

We can offer your child the chance to be a ‘world-changer’ through our Future Ready curriculum which is built on our School mission of ‘Education for a Shared Humanity’. Children who experience an international school education are perfectly placed to thrive in the world, being able to converse with people from all countries and cultures, creating relationships which will support them and connect them as they learn and grow. and become true Role Models of the World.

The House System

St Christopher’s School has a long-established House System to which all pupils from Nursery to Year 13 belong. The Houses are named after birds of prey which are native to the Gulf region and synonymous with Arab culture. Our houses are Falcon (Red), Kestrel (Blue), Merlin (Green) and Osprey (Yellow). Family members are placed in the same House as their siblings to ensure there is no family rivalry! Staff in the school are also placed in a House, ensuring that all Houses are well supported. House Points are awarded effort, achievement, conduct and good behaviour.

Student Councils at St Christopher’s are forums for all pupils to have a voice. Council representatives are a conduit for ideas and suggestions which are then considered and actioned by staff. The Councils meet regularly and undertake termly projects which contribute to school improvement and also service projects which benefit the Bahrain community and those identified by the students globally.

Further leadership opportunities develop students’ sense of responsibility and community. Our Eco Club, Digital Leaders, Librarians and Playground Helpers are all integral to the school and a forum for student voice.
