Service

Service is one of the core elements of our Future Ready Curriculum.

Our Service programme at St Christopher’s is designed to actively engage learners in addressing the environmental, economic, and social challenges faced by both Bahrain and the global community. We aim to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding to confront issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, conflict, and injustice.

Through the 'Learn, Think, and Act' cycle, learners are provided with opportunities to cultivate values and attitudes that encourage helping others, recognize the collective benefits of active participation, and understand the short- and long-term impacts of their actions.

Service also fosters interculturalism and internationalism, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect in local collaborations and the growing significance of cultural exchange in global interactions.

Our Service program enables learners to:

  • Actively participate and make meaningful contributions as informed, responsive, and responsible citizens, addressing environmental, economic, and social challenges at local, national, and global levels.
  • Develop empathy and care for others and the environment by identifying both the immediate and long-term needs of communities and ecosystems.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recognizing the importance of safeguarding the future of the planet, protecting endangered habitats, and creating sustainable solutions.
  • Understand global governance structures, rights and responsibilities, and the interconnectedness of nations and populations.
  • Appreciate and respect cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, and other differences, while developing skills for thriving in an increasingly diverse world.
  • Embrace values of fairness and social justice, critically analyzing inequalities related to gender, socio-economic status, culture, religion, age, and other diversities.

Service opportunities are embedded at an age appropriate level from Nursery to Year 13 and as students transition through the school, they take increasing responsibility for their own role in Service learning and in identifying and planning to address issues.

The Service element of our Future Ready curriculum is dedicated to inspiring students to become proactive, responsible citizens who can make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.

By tackling real-world challenges and understanding the responsibilities of global citizenship, students are empowered to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to building a better world. In doing so, they are not only prepared to address urgent issues but also positioned to become influential role models, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.

Our diverse extracurricular offerings play a crucial role in this development, providing students with rich opportunities to embody the core values of the 6Cs: Creativity, Commitment, curiosity, courage, confidence and compassion. Through our SPARTA program, which offers expert coaching in Swimming and Dance, students cultivate teamwork, discipline, and resilience, while also enhancing their physical and mental well-being. Activities like chess, Dungeons and Dragons, and story writing nurture intellectual growth, creativity, and strategic thinking, all while fostering collaboration and problem-solving skills.

These activities not only help students develop leadership qualities but also prepare them to communicate effectively, think critically, and creatively solve complex problems. By engaging in these experiences, they build a deeper sense of commitment to personal and communal growth, while actively practicing good citizenship. These opportunities enable students to become inspiring role models—both in their local communities and on the global stage—equipped to guide others in creating a positive, sustainable future for all.
