Life @ St Chris
Senior Sports Teams
There are many opportunities during lunchtime and after school, for involvement in a comprehensive programme of activities. The main emphasis is to get as many students active as possible.
Students are strongly encouraged to take up at least one activity, which may lead to House and/or School representation at competitive levels. A weekly Sports Programme is produced, providing students and parents with a time-table of events, which can be found on parent portal.
Activities take place during the lunch break or after school. Most after school activities commence at 2.45 pm, finishing at 4.00 pm. However, some sporting fixtures will finish at 5.30 pm and students/parents will therefore need to arrange transport home. Students will be transported by school bus to ‘away’ fixtures after school. The school bus returns to St Christopher’s School after an ‘away’ fixture and parents may collect their children directly from the fixture or from School.
We are actively involved in a competitive Sports League on the Island. The Bahrain Schools Sports League (BSSL) and compete at 3 levels, Under 13 (Junior), Under 15 (Intermediate) and Under 19 (Senior), for both Boys and Girls. Sports that we take part in are Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Tennis, Swimming, Golf, Athletics, Netball, Rounder’s, 3km Run, Table Tennis and Cricket. Recently our teams have entered the Bahrain Mini Olympics, taking part in Athletics, Swimming, Aquathlon, Cricket and Hockey.
As well as competing in competitions on the Island we are heavily involved in BSME events, taking part in the Under 13 BSME Games, Under 15 BSME Games, BSME Golf, and BSME Netball. St Christopher’s also enters many Football competitions around the Middle East, one of the most popular is the Unity Cup in Dubai, where we enter Under 19 and Under 14 teams.
