The St Christopher’s School BSME Under 11 teams put on some absolutely brilliant sporting performances during the BSME games. The young athletes competed in a variety of matches, with students from across the region. The annual ‘British Schools in the Middle East’ tournament was this year hosted by The British International School, Abu Dhabi.
The students played phenomenally well, winning the girls’ football and the boys’ basketball tournaments, and being awarded 2nd place in the boys’ football; 2nd in swimming; 2nd in athletics; and 6th in netball (3rd in the pool).
Overall, 576 children took part, from 16 schools across the GCC region, competing in 6 sports, over 3 days. St Christopher’s 35 children came home with multiple medals and trophies, and the highlight saw the students achieve the title of “Overall Champions”, bringing this esteemed trophy back to Bahrain.
These events help to create some very special friendships and opportunities with other students across the region. Everyone celebrated their amazing efforts together during a gala dinner, and the St Chris sports-stars were welcomed home by a group of their peers, surprising them with signs and cheers as they walked through the school gates.
