Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 pages! Here you can take a look at how much fun learning can be in Year 6. You can also learn about some of the particularly special events that we put on during the final year in the Junior School. It is an action-packed, hard-working but most of all, fun year.

The classrooms in Year 6 are either side of a corridor that we call our Activity Street. This is an extra learning area outside the classrooms ideal for drama activities or group work. Each term it is decorated to reflect one of our curriculum areas.

TERM 1: Archaeology

TERM 2: Britain since 1940

TERM 3: A trip down memory lane

As Year 6 children are the oldest children in the Junior School, we offer many opportunities for them to take on certain roles and responsibilities within the school. At the start of Year 6 we select captains to represent the four Houses. Their duties include helping at swim galas and sports days. A ‘Here to Help’ team, who ensure everyone in the playground is having fun, look after the little ones in the Infant School and introduce new games for them to play. Finally, we have monitors for our specialist teachers in Art, DT and French as well as a small group of librarians, who assist Mrs Grey during break times and after school.

As well as our classroom based learning events, we also enjoy a wide range of special events during the year. These include trips to the Bahrain National Museum, the Saar digs and the Grand Mosque. History Day - which involved each class dressing up from a decade between the 50’s to the present day and performing music from these decades at our street party, Charity Fun Day - where the children design their own stalls and raise money for chosen charities locally and internationally, a Graduation Dinner to celebrate the end of their time at the Junior School as well as a fun day out to Lost Paradise at the end of the year.

As you can see, Year 6 is a busy year and we hope these pages give you a flavour of what happens and the fun we have. Of course, you can’t beat actually being here so why not pay us a visit? Look forward to seeing you soon!
