Year 5 Aztec Day

On the 29th June, Year 5 had an awesome Aztec day. Although this is far lower key than the spectacular Tudor day of Term 2, the children and staff had a fantastic time.Children spent some time either making a headdress or mask to wear for the day. For the Aztecs, masks and headdresses were very symbolic and many original examples can be seen at the British Museum in London. The highlight for many of the children were the Aztec styled piñatas. All of the children took great delight bashing the piñatas, even to the point where the sticks broke and Mr Holness had to step in and provide us with hockey sticks to do the job. Everyone then returned to the year group for a sample of Mexican food—chilli, rice and cheesy nachos—yum yum!
