Following an address by the awe-inspiring Nabs Al Busaidi on his recent return from his trek to the Magnetic North Pole and his ascent of Mount Vincent in Antarctica, Year 11 students readily embraced the challenge of climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest in the School playground during their Enrichment lesson. Resplendent in their Everest Charity Climb T-shirts and with the added inducement of ice-cream, the students embarked on a choreographed ascent of the benches, stepping up in unison in the crushing heat of the midday sun. Spurred on by Nabs, the summit was eventually reached and sponsorship monies can be duly collected. Already the fund stands at over one thousand dinars, which will be donated to the Haiti Earthquake appeal fund. One of the students, Scott Wilkinson will have raised over 300BD, which entitles him to a special gift from Nabs. As a final flourish, the Year 11 students raised the now adopted Nabs high aloft to wish him every success in his next physical challenge, that of climbing to the summit of the real Everest over the course of the next few weeks. We will all be following his progress very keenly. Thanks to our sponsors, Awal Dairy for the drinks and ice cream provided to all the climbers!
