Thankfully the wet, cold weather cleared up overnight to reveal glorious sunshine, allowing us to have the Year 1 and 2 Sports Day outside on the Tiger Turf.
Year 1 started in the Sports Hall where they lined up in their teams and psyched themselves up ready to score enough points to win the House Cup! To prepare themselves fully the Year 6 House Captains led each House in their chant before entering the Tiger Turf to their House anthem.
Each House did tremendously well, scoring lots of points at each of the activities. This year a new event was introduced which gave the children a great opportunity to show off their aiming skills. The rugby activity was also adjusted to encourage the children to concentrate on their throwing and catching skills. They only scored points if they caught the ball.
Year 1 rose to the challenge and scored lots of points. The winners were as follows:
- Basketball Dribble and Shoot: Merlin
- Hockey Dribble and Shoot: Osprey
- Football Dribble and Shoot: Kestrel
- Ball Throw: Falcon
Overall results and the winners of this year’s House cup were:
- 1st place: Osprey
- 2nd place: Falcon
- 3rd place: Kestrel
- 4th place: Merlin
It was a fun and exciting morning! Thank you to the House Captains who were fantastic and well done to all Year 1 children, parents and staff. It was a fun and exciting morning!
