Year 1 Knights and Princesses Day

We all had an amazing time on Knights and Princesses Day when we were visited by knights, kings, princesses, jesters, wizards and there was even a Jedi Knight to teach us the ways of the Force!

Everybody had a fun-filled day which started with a parade of everyone in costume, followed by a variety of creative and writing activities based around the theme. Everyone painted pictures of themselves or another fantasy character and these fabulous works of art now adorn the walls in the activity street, so please come and see them. Later on we were treated to a medieval feast, waited on by servants (parents and teachers!). The children were only, able to try foods similar to ones available during medieval times – meats, cheeses, bread, pies and fruit. We thought there might be some reluctance to try these food items but everything was tried...and thoroughly enjoyed! In the afternoon the children enjoyed activities based around our Homes From Long Ago topic. The children had a great day and it was a fun way to celebrate the start of our new learning theme.
