On leaving Reception the children will attend Year One. There are six Year One classes situated in Saar school. At this stage the UK National Curriculum will be fully implemented.
All subjects will be taught but the core curriculum subjects will receive the greater time commitment. The children will experience a Victorian School Day, an Arabic coffee Morning and be involved in a year group production. The photographs will show you all the other exciting topics and things we do!
Year 1 sees children make the transition from the Foundation Stage curriculum to the English National Curriculum. The core curriculum subjects of literacy and maths receive the greater time commitment in Year 1 and the children experience learning in other subjects through a themed approach where they can see explicit links to the different subject areas. Highlights of the year include a Victorian School Day, an Arabic coffee Morning and being involved in a year group production.
