March 3rd was World Maths Day, an event initiated by the Mathletics website.
We decided to use it as a chance to carry out some more of our ever popular cross-phase activities. Classes from Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 paired together and made 3D shapes from nets. The older children really enjoyed helping their younger friends. Classes then used the shapes, as well as additional boxes brought in from home, to make some wonderful 3D sculptures.
The initiative was a great success and teachers are already looking for other opportunities for cross-phase learning. The children were also very active at home visiting the Mathletics website and earning points for our school.
