| Students |
| The students
come from a wide range of cultures and nationalities,
reflecting Bahrain's cosmopolitan society.
They form a delightful, open, friendly and
talented student body. Many of the students
have English as their mother tongue, while
some have considerable facility in two or
three languages. On leaving St. Christopher's,
students proceed to a variety of destinations,
ranging from the UK, the USA and the Arab
world to the Indian sub-continent, the Far
East, Australia and New Zealand. Typically,
most of our senior students undertake further
study, with by far the majority continuing
to university education, while others enter
vocational courses and a few move directly
into employment. |

| Staff |
| The school
is fortunate enough to have a committed, highly
qualified staff with wide ranging experience
of teaching in the British style of education.
In a rapidly changing educational world, staff
regularly update skills and knowledge of new
developments during Inservice Training (INSET)
Days added to the school teaching year. A
number of teachers give up part of their summer
vacation to attend residential courses in
the UK, while some are pursuing higher degrees. |

| Pastoral
Care & Guidance |
| The school
is proud of its caring ethos, with a wide
range of staff involved in the pastoral care
and guidance of students. In the earlier stages
this is mainly carried out by the class teacher,
while in the Senior School
a number of staff are given pastoral responsibility
as part of their role (Quality and Guidance).
We enjoy an excellent record in helping children
from very different backgrounds to adjust
to life in St. Christopher's and in Bahrain. |

| School
Houses |
| In the Junior
School and Senior School,
each student is a member of one of the four
School Houses, named after the hawks traditionally
associated with Bahrain (Falcon, Kestrel,
Merlin and Osprey). Houses promote contact
between the different age ranges, while students
enjoy the opportunities for inter-house competition
in a variety of sporting and other pursuits.
In the Senior School,
each House is led by a team consisting of
a Sixth Form House Captain and House Prefects
in conjunction with a member of staff who
takes on the role of Head of House. Positive
reward is encouraged through the use of House
Points to recognise students' endeavours and
achievements in a range of fields. |
