- Pull water down, slightly underneath the body
- Breathing as per normal
- Little finger in first with straight arms
- Thumb out first, straight arm back to entry
Breast Stroke
Simultaneous movements of the arms on the same horizontal plane. The hands are pressed out in front of the breast in a heart shaped pattern and recover under or on the surface of the water. The kick is a simultaneous circular motion similar to the action of a frog.

- Knees up, feet turned out
- Push backwards, legs wide with feet turned out
- Arms swipe wide and round back to middle of the chest
- Snap back together

- Elbows high, hands together extend straight.
- When the legs kick the arms are extended, when the arms pull the legs are extended
- Breathing is while arms are pulling
- Everything needs to be symmetrical
Butterfly
Simultaneous overwater recovery of the arms combined with an undulating dolphin kick. In the kick, the legs must stay together and not flutter, scissor or use the breaststroke kick.

- Thumb and finger enter first, pull out and around in key hole shape to the thighs
- Little finger exits, legs recover straight and low back to entry
- Chin is extended when the arms recover
- First kick is when arm pulls, second kick is as they recover
(Everything needs to be symmetrical)
