Starting this September, Year 6 students had the opportunity to take part in the St Christopher’s Award Scheme. This new scheme will run in Terms 1 and 2 each year. The scheme is based around the International Award and Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes. The groups cover aspects of service, new skills, physical activity, mapping and camp craft. In addition to the after school
sessions, those taking part commit some of their own time to the service and skills aspects, integral to the Award.
The first two groups are coming to the end of the Award and are looking forward to their final desert trek and camp. In the first practice trek in December we were treated to some fabulous weather. However, as you can see in some of the photos, the second group fell foul to one of Bahrain’s dust storms. The group struggled through and arrived back happy to have completed the trek, if a little dusty!
