The St Christopher’s golf team is up and running again this year. The golf course is in wonderful condition and the team is making the best use of the facilities provided by playing matches on the Wee Monty every week on a Wednesday. The academy are also taking advantage of the driving range and expertise provided by the professionals at the golf club.
Under the supervision of Mr Hobday, the Matchplay league has commenced and has seen some enthralling matches already between the competing 12 members of the team with the finals in the not-too-distant future. The knockout matches will begin next term and each player will by vying for the chance to lift the trophy.
The annual staff v student match will also take place later in the school year. With defeat fresh in their memory, the student team will be relishing the chance to take their vengeance and restore some pride.
As well as the golf team itself, the golf academy has also continued to flourish with many students new to the game having lessons at the golf club under the expert tuition of John Howell and Mark Underwood. It is hoped that many of these budding golfers will go on to represent the school team once they have gained the required skills and can get around the new golf course without hacking it up too much!!
As well as John and Mark, the golf team would also like to thank Phil Jones, Chris Kelby, Tim Backhouse and the rest of the staff at Royal Golf Club for the time that they spend helping us to improve our golf. We would also like to thank Mr Hobday for organising all of our golfing events both in Bahrain and abroad.
