The St Christopher's Senior school organised a Sports Relief day for students today. Sports relief is an annual event in the UK which combines sport and charity to raise money for a number of charities to give money to those in need. The students decided the money they raised would go toward the Haiti relief fund, which they have been raising money for since the earthquake took place. During an extended breaktime, students took part in a whole range of sporting activities which included staff vs students netball and cricket, as well as Badminton, football and touch rugby. Students donated money to come in their own choice of sports wear for the day and also competed in classes to build the tallest coin stack possible, with all coins also going towards the relief fund. Music was provided by student DJ Ollie Vine who kept both spectators and those involved entertained. The main event of the day was the synchronised dance, which saw over 300 students perform the cupid shuffle in sync. It was a great day which was enjoyed by students and teachers, and everyone was delighted to have raised some money to help those less fortunate.
