| Description |
Music
has always played a central role at St. Christopher's
School and is firmly integrated into the school's
worldwide success on both the academic and
artistic front. As we stand today, music plays
a valuable role in linking all three schools
(Infants, Junior and Senior) together. Throughout
the year, one can see from the schemes of
work and calendar of musical events that every
child has an every increasing diverse range
of opportunities to participate in. Music
provides a vital role in allowing students
to develop ideas and express feelings and
emotions using a wide range of media. The
use of materials and sound help students conceptualise
then move on to realise their ideas and so
develop and exercise
the mind. Therefore, no matter what the sociological
and cultural status of the student may be,
Music Education at St. Christopher's School
will provide instant access to personal development
and excellence through the medium of self-expression.
Music has an important role in supporting
the 'whole school curriculum' and irrespective
of their ability and cognitive development,
all students will benefit from self-exploration
in a safe, supportive and creative environment. |

| Facilities |
The
music suite at St Christopher's school is
excellent. There are 2 purpose built teaching
rooms which house sets of keyboards, guitars
and percussion for all students. The music
department also has the latest video, DVD
and audio equipment which is used with all
years. Each teaching base has 3 independent
practice rooms, one of which, hosts our music
technology area which runs the latest digital
audio and sequencing programs. There are also
4 more ensemble rooms which are used for instrumental
teaching. We currently offer Brass, String,
Woodwind Guitar and Drum tuition to over 280
students and employ 4 instrumental teachers.
There is also a band room where rock bands
can rehearse. Other major facilities include
5 acoustic and 2 digital pianos, 3 drum kits
and a comprehensive storeroom housing a wide
