| Description |
Design
and Technology at St Christopher's Senior
School is a subject that is intended to encourage
individual flair, creativity and self motivation.
To enable students to develop practical skills
and to design, make and modify a wide range
of products, ranging from electronic products
to Computer Aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM).
It is a subject that calls on and contributes
to knowledge and understanding of many other
subjects. We aim to expose pupils to a broad
range of Design and Technology. The courses
offered provide students with a balance of
D&T experiences following the design process. |

| Facilities |
The
Technology Department consists of two well
equipped workshops, one design room and one
PC suite. Students are given the opportunity
to work with modern computer aided design
and manufacture and there is a well resoursed
Graphics room. We constantly update our teaching
and facilities to adapt to the changing world
of work. |

| Courses |
The
courses offer the opportunity to design and
make a variety of products in a wide range
of areas such as advertising, packaging, and
architectural design or designing furniture,
lighting systems, clocks and many more are
possible. The courses provide stimulation
and a challenge to all students no matter
what their interests. Design and Technology
is taught to all students at KS3 and two GCSE's
are offered at KS4, Graphic Products and Resistant
Materials. Recent years has seen these groups
thrive as more KS3 students opt to take the
courses at GCSE level. We also have large
numbers of students pursue the subject at
AS and A2 level and many of this progress
to become 'Career' designers |
