The Learning Support Department works closely with teachers and students to ensure students enjoy school life and maximise their potential here at St Christopher’s. The department comprises of a UK trained Educational Psychologist and teacher and a UK trained Senior Classroom Assistant. Our aim is to enable our students to develop independent learning skills in order to access the curriculum to the best of their abilities. We integrate the Learn to Learn approach into our practice.
Facilities
The Learning Support Department is based in a large, attractive, well appointed room adjacent to the Library. Our "open door" policy ensures that teachers and students can come into our base for support, discussion or coaching. We are also able to offer regular one to one counselling around a particular issue. We utilise a range of different programmes to meet the changing demands of each term and we liaise closely with students to ensure that our support fully meets their needs. The Learning Support team provides a flexible, friendly and positive approach in the school and much of our work is produced by the team themselves on an individual basis.
