The Annual Prize Day took place on Tuesday 22 June 2010 in the Saar Auditorium. The event, which was attended by over five hundred students, parents, honoured guests and teachers, celebrated a range of exceptional student achievements, primarily from Year 8 to Year 12. This year has seen the introduction of two new celebratory evenings, notably the Year 13 Commencement Ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 1 June, and the combined Year 6 and Year 7 Ceremony, which is scheduled for Sunday 27 June. Following the opening address by Head of the Senior School, Mr Nick Wilson, there were two musical performances. The Flute Ensemble, comprising Sarah Al Saati, Sophie Appleton, Kripa Balachandran, Zaliqa Rosli and Christina Young, played The Liberty Bell by John Phillip Souza. Hyuk Nam Koong, pianist and the Young Musician of the Gulf 2010, played the Prelude in C Minor Opus 23 No 7 by Rachmaninov. The Guest of Honour for the evening, His Excellency, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr Jamie Bowden, awarded the Prizes. The occasion closed with the Vote of Thanks by the Head Girl, Zaliqa Rosli and the Head Boy, Mazen Almazkati, and the address by the Principal, Mr Ed Goodwin.
