Aims of the course
That all students develop ICT capability which encompasses not only the mastery of technical skills and techniques, but also the understanding to apply these skills purposefully, safely and responsibly in learning and everyday life.

- The above taught in a “realistic” context using previous year’s GCSE Task.
Terms 2 & 3

“STARSTRUCK PROJECT”
Presentation software, spreadsheets, graphics, sound, web design and video taught in a business context. The students manage a virtual band and host a virtual show.
Assessment
Students are assessed according to the following framework:

Finding information – ability to identify key information needed to solve problems, be able to refine searches to obtain information that is well matched to purpose and evaluate information to judge its value, accuracy and bias

Exploring ideas and manipulating information – ability to solve problems creatively using ICT to explore ideas and try alternatives

Capability – ability to use a range of ICT tools in a purposeful way to tackle questions, solve problems and create ideas and solutions of value

Critical evaluation – ability to review and reflect critically on what they and others produce using ICT. Major assessment is done at the end of each project. In-between we provide comments on individual pieces of the work periodically.
