Aims of the course
To promote the target language (and its grammar) and develop practical communicative skills; to develop transferable language skills and an awareness of cultural diversity; to make language learning enjoyable, positive and interesting to pupils of all levels of ability.

- Saying whether something fits
- Going shopping / asking to buy items
- Asking about opening times
- Discussing Christmas / what sort of presents you’re buying
- Understanding / giving directions in a town
- Describing a town /saying where a town is situated
Term 2
- The school year, reports and marks
- Describing favourite subjects
- Describing problems in school
- Part-time / Full-time jobs
- Saying what you want to do in the future
- Preparation for oral assessment
Term 3
- Travelling
- Planning visits to sights of interest
- Hotels, campsites, youth hotels
- Learning of variety of types of materials in preparation for the MFL Soiree
Assessment
Students are assessed according to the following framework:
- Homework
- Written/Aural/Oral tests
- Worksheets and role plays (closed and open-ended)
- End of Unit Assessments as appropriate
- Early written assessment in 1st Term (for purposes of setting)
- End of Year examinations
