Identify some naturally occurring materials; predict and describe how heating can change some materials into new and useful materials. Describe what happens to water when it is heated and cooled; record observations in tables and recognise when simple comparisons are unfair

Term 2

Desert Animal and Plants and Properties of Materials

To know the term habitat and be able to use it to apply in different contexts To group living things according to observable similarities and differences. To identify how living things in the desert belong to a larger environment that links them together Compare the new to the old those that are man-made materials and those that are naturally occurring. Assess function of the materials used for modern day based on their properties. To evaluate whether materials today are an improvement on those used in the past?

Term 3

Forces and electricity and Keeping Healthy

To know pushes and pulls can change the shape of an object and know that forces can change speed and direction. To be able to identify circuits that will work/not work and be aware of how to stay safe around electricity Investigations. To investigate the use of ramps to change speed To understand the role of hospitals in our lives and know that changes occur in their bodies when they are ill. To recognise the importance of keeping clean to stop some illnesses spreading. To know that medicine can sometimes help us to get better.
