Laying a Secure Foundation for Future Learning
Our children in Reception are happy, confident, secure and cared for in an attractive, well-resourced environment. Our learners enjoy a sense of personal achievement, which is celebrated by all.
A high priority is given to the process of learning, and opportunities are provided to learn through play, people and the environment. We strive to provide a friendly, welcoming environment where our children can begin their journey as confident lifelong learners.
Our children moving up from Nursery are introduced to a longer day and proudly wear their school uniform. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children gain the communication and social skills in Nursery to enable them to thrive in the learning environment in Reception. The formal teaching of reading begins with a highly structured phonics programme and the Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme is introduced early in Term 1. Children work predominantly with their class teacher and receive specialist teaching in music and PE enjoying swimming as part of the curriculum.
