Background
Performances whether they are formal or informal, theatrical or musical, indoors or outdoors, planned or spontaneous, major or minor all help to demonstrate and deepen the creative heart and soul of St Christopher’s school!
Whether taking part as a performer or being part of an appreciative audience, performance experiences can help to emphasize just what it means to be part of St Christopher’s School community. Sponsored poetry recitals to raise money for charity, whole school winter concerts, and full scale quality productions such as Mary Poppins, Smike or Star Ship Silver Blue all extend valuable opportunities to our students for them to develop confidence, share their many talents and enhance their creative abilities.
Each phase of the school aims to provide a wide variety of performance opportunities through a planned programme of assemblies, concerts and productions. Solo and ensemble performances for our instrumental students are arranged regularly and these build up to the opportunity to be a member of the School orchestra or to play at a major concert. The St Christopher’s Subscription Concert Series gives music lovers the experience of seeing famous name musicians in an intimate setting, benefitting not just the school but the whole Bahrain community.
Annually, St Christopher’s hosts both a music festival for Bahraini student musicians and the renowned Young Musicians of the Gulf competition, which attracts the very best music students from around the region to compete for the coveted title of Young Musician of the Gulf! Rock and Pop concerts are extremely popular where newly formed and well established student bands revel in the chance to perform on an outdoor stage with a sound and lighting system that many professional bands would envy!
