Peace Day 2010

In preparation for World Peace Day on 21 September, the Year 10 Tutors and students organised a range of activities to mark this important occasion. Students of all ages were encouraged to enter a Peace Logo Design Competition and a Peace Poem Competition. The winning design was printed on the Peace T-Shirts which were worn by the students throughout the day. The poems were collated in an Anthology, which is to be professionally published. A Peace Pole was erected in the School Garden and to further enhance awareness of World Peace Day, Year 10 students read Peace quotes over the PA system each morning. A Volleyball match versus the staff was played nd students wore Peace ribbons. An aerial photo was taken of the students who created the Peace Sign and Holly O’Neil read her very moving poem “A Million Tears” just before noon, which was followed by a minute’s silence observed by the Whole School. The culmination of the week was the Year 10 Assembly where students reflected on the impact of their message to the community.
