Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards Evening

The Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards Evening was held on Wednesday 4 January in the Saar Auditorium. The Ceremony, which was attended by two hundred and fifty students, families and teaching staff, was opened by welcome addresses from the Principal, Mr Ed Goodwin, and Mrs Sonia Carr, Regional Academic Director, Edexcel International. The opening addresses were followed by two delightful musical interludes. Arnold Brass, conducted by Mr Andrew Holman, performed three dances by Claude Gervaise: Galliarde, Pavane D’Angleterre and Basse Danse la Volunté. The Madrigal Group, conducted by Mr William Goldring, performed The Bare Necessities, words and music by Terry Gilkyson and Nicholas Hare. GCSE Medals and GCSE Certificates were presented by Mrs Carr, assisted by Mrs Hilary Rowark, Assistant Head Teacher and Mr Paul Inskip, Head of Year 11 (2010-11).. A Level Medals and A Level and IB Certificates were presented by Mrs Carr, assisted by Mr Stephen Martin, Assistant Head Teacher and Ms Danielle Sheppard, Head of Year 13. The Alumni speech was made by Mr Robert Jamieson who is currently studying Mathematics and Physics at The University of Durham. The closing address was made by Mr Nick Wilson, Head Teacher which was followed by the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Girl, Sophie Appleton, and the Head Boy, Aditya Sarkar.  The Ceremony concluded with refreshments and formal photographs.
