Sixth Form students are able to select between two academic pathways, the IB Diploma programme and the A-level programme. Both programmes provide high levels of rigorous intellectual challenge and facilitate access to the most competitive and prestigious universities world-wide.
The School is extremely proud of its history of excellent IB and A-level results. To ensure the highest levels of academic success, students are carefully and regularly monitored throughout the two years of each programme by Form Tutors, Heads of Year, IB Co-ordinator, USA/Canada University Guidance Counsellor, Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for Oxbridge/Medicine applications/AQA Extended Essay Qualification (EPQ) and Head of Post-16 Education.
The Enrichment programme provides structured support in terms of university applications, career guidance and preparation for university life. Significant emphasis is placed on developing student leadership and all students are strongly encouraged to become involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including overseas trips.
The Sixth Form Centre provides a range of facilities to support learning and social interaction and wireless internet access facilitates the use of personal technology to support learning, which is highly encouraged. Social functions and events are a feature of Sixth Form life and we value very highly the excellent relationships that exist between staff and students.
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that each Sixth Form student leaves St Christopher’s a happy, well-rounded, responsible, independent individual who has a clear sense of purpose and a love of learning. We look forward to meeting you.
