Year
5 starts with a bang, the BIG
BANG! We begin with Earth and
Beyond. In Term 1 the Activity
Street is bursting with fantastic
Science projects.
The Literacy highlight is following
instructions; this has included
cooking, making mothballs dance,
fortune tellers and much more!
This is as well as spelling,
morning reading, plays and drama,
recounts and writing story openings.
There is a strong emphasis on
number and times tables in Numeracy
in Term 1. But room is left
for shape and getting to grips
with fractions!
In Humanities after the excitement
of Henry VIII we pause Tudors
and move to a study of Europe.
|
In
Term 2 we explore the Tudors
further and find out more
about their way of life. Come
and see the amazing Tudor
projects towards the end of
this term. You’ll be
astounded! We also have the
thrill of Tudor
Day!

Literacy has a fiction focus
of Myths, Legends and Fables
and non-fiction themes of
reports and explanations.
In Numeracy we will be re-visiting
module areas introduced in
Term 1.
Life Cycles and the Environment
are our Science themes for
the term.
|
In
Term 3 we get very persuasive
in Literacy as we argue points
of view, write letters and
have debates. This is alongside
writing leaflets and choral
and performance poetry.
We move smoothly from the
Tudors into the contrasting
world of the Aztecs, where
we discover a way of life
beyond our imagination!
Science sees us investigating
changing sounds, changing
states and gases. Lots of
practical experiments to look
forward to!

In Numeracy we consolidate
all we have learned so far
and have a Times Table battle!
