Welcome to the Junior school section of our web site. I have been Headteacher of the Junior school for the last nine years and during that time our school has developed and changed immensely. We were lucky enough to move into our brand new school building in September 2005 and every morning as I walk up the central path, I am reminded of just how fortunate we are to have so much space, so much light and so many wonderful classrooms and specialist areas to support our learning journeys!
At St Chris, we all think of ourselves as learners; that’s why the school is continually developing and always improving. We have a “Framework for Learning” written by our principal, Mr Goodwin, which guides our work, helps to update teachers on the very best of classroom practice and summarises some of the latest research and information on how best we can help our pupils learn. I would like to share with you one of my favourite quotes from the “Framework for Learning”.
‘Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon.’ E.M. Forster
The Framework for Learning helps to establish an ethos in the school which will increase the likelihood that more and more of our children will become autonomous learners. We love to celebrate our childrens' achievements and if you refer to our result's pages, you can see just how high our academic standards are ! You will also notice from our packed calendar of sporting, music, year group and art events that achievement and learning in all areas is valued. Here, on our website you will find numerous snapshots and images of our school chosen to help give you a flavour of what St Christopher’s offers and stands for. However, there is no substitute for seeing the school and being part of it yourself. Join us if you can, but if you can’t just yet, at least come along for a visit. We would love to show you around.
