Maths

Our maths activities are based on seven core strands: using and applying mathematics, counting and understanding number, knowing and using number facts, calculating, understanding shape, measuring and handling data.

These strands are organised into five blocks which are visited once a term:

  • Block A: Counting, partitioning and calculating
  • Block B: Securing number facts and understanding shape
  • Block C: Handling data and measures
  • Block D: Calculating, measuring and understanding shape
  • Block E: Securing number facts, relationships and calculating

In the Junior School, we follow the Renewed Framework for Mathematics (2006) with its emphasis on high standards of basic maths skills alongside creative ‘using and applying’ activities.

Maths in the Junior School not only facilitates high standards of numeracy but is also fun and stimulating!
