The Learning Support Department offers support in a variety of ways across KS1 and KS2. We are a big but friendly department and we like to work as a team to help our students.

• We run clubs to focus on boosting specific skills. For example, there is a Spelling Club, a Writing Club, and a Maths Club.
• We might come into class to help out alongside the class teacher.
• We might take a small group into the activity street to really focus on class work.
• We might work with one or two children on individual programmes in the LS Department.
• We arrange Parent Chat coffee afternoons to share information.

We always want our children to have fun whilst working towards increased skills, confidence, and independence. Our aim is to reduce and withdraw support once it is no longer needed….then we know our job is done!

We try to work through the following steps:

• Introduce skills
• Rehearse skills
• Apply skills
• Transfer skills
• Automatically use the skills in various contexts – especially back in class
