Arabic and Islam

The Syllabus is based on the Ministry of Education syllabus in Arabic and Islamic Studies and Citizenship which enables students to achieve success and attain a high level of fluency in arabic and an understanding of Islam.

We seek to recruit qualified and experienced teachers who are able to use modern, educational and interesting methods. We keep class sizes small by providing three levels of teaching in each year group. The teacher is encouraged to be creative and present the subject in an interesting way and we require teachers to find ways to ensure students enjoy learning. The teacher, as an educator ensures that the students behave well, love their heritage and learn how to treat others sensibly, as well as teaching them the four skills of language, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The student's grades are based on their participation in class monthly and termly tests and on going assesement of linguistic skills.Parents are informed of their child's progress through regular parent meetings and written reports. Our door is always open and we are ready to answer and discuss your questions at any time. All you need to do is to make an appointment to ensure we are free to see you.

Arabic Studies

We are proud of our Arabic language as it is the language of our Quran and spoken by millions of people around the world.

At St Christopher’s School we seek always to recruit qualified and experienced teachers who are able to use modern, educational and interesting methods.

As St Christopher’s School offers the British National curriculum, a large number of the students are non Arabs. This gives the school and the teacher the responsibility to teach them Arabic through using methods that suit the student’s individual needs.

As for Arab students, the school uses the local curriculum from the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The teacher is free to be creative and present the subject in an interesting way and we require teachers to find ways to encourage the student to love his mother language. The teacher, as an educator ensures that the students behave well, love their heritage and learn how to treat others sensibly, as well as teaching them the four skills of language, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Islamic Studies
St Christopher’s provides Islamic Studies for all Muslim students. The curriculum is built on exploring verses of the Quran and sayings of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). It aims to give pupils a clear, thorough understanding of Islamic teachings, moral behaviour and Islamic etiquettes.

As well as the above, some of the important figures in Islamic history are also studied, such as the lives of Prophets: Adam, Moses, Jesus and of course Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Students also learn about Muslims’ contributions to modern science.

Our school uses the Ministry of Education curriculum of Islamic Studies for Arabs. For non-Arab students, the school uses the Islamic Good Word courses. They are specifically designed with non Arab-Muslim students in mind.

We endeavour to use enjoyable, practical methods for learning and teaching Islam. The school holds Islamic Assemblies regularly where students are taught about their religion, led by the Head of Arabic and Islamic Studies. Moreover, we encourage our students to organise charity events to raise money to help the poor and needy both in and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.

TOGETHER WE CAN ACHIEVE SUCCESS FOR OUR STUDENTS
