An exciting week for St Chris Swimmers!
The last week in October saw the Junior School dive into their Inter-House swimming Galas. With the mascots mounted on the blocks and the House flags flying high, each team swam like fish to score as many points as they could in their races.
Year 3 started the week off with a splash! This, their first chance to “race” their fellow Houses in competition. They reveled in the chance to compete and with the help of the Year 6 House Captains, they cheered their teams on all the way to the finish line. As the afternoon came to a close, Mr Holness called out the much anticipated results. In fourth place was Osprey; third place, Merlin; Kestrel came second and this year’s Year 3 winners were Falcon.
Year 4 were next to dive in and swim with all their mite! They showed how hard they’ve been working in their swimming lessons and raced each other over 25m. The atmosphere was exhilarating and the final results were very close! In fourth place was Osprey; third came Kestrel; Merlin was second, while Falcon won again! Well done to all the swimmers.
Year 5 and 6 rounded up the week with two very exciting afternoons. Each event was very close, with not many points dividing the end results. After swimming the different strokes and competing in the relays, the eagerly awaited results for Year 5 were: fourth place, Merlin; third place, Falcon; second place Osprey and first place Kestrel.
Year 6 swam front crawl, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke as quickly as they could. They sang their chants and cheered their teams on all the way. The final results were: fourth place, Kestrel; third place Merlin; second place, Osprey and first place Falcon.
Well done to all the swimmers. You showed great teamwork and sportsmanship! For each team that came first place, 200 house points were awarded. Second place received 175 house points, while third place were given 150 house points and fourth place, 125 house points. The total amount of house points awarded to the Houses for their efforts in the pool are:
Falcon 750 Kestrel 650
Merlin 600 Osprey 600
