The Infant School is a warm and welcoming place, full of happy, confident children. Every week there is something exciting happening - from Science Week to International Day, from Pirate Week to a visit to the Wildlife Park, all contributing to making our school such a wonderful place in which to learn.
We are lucky to have a dedicated team of teaching and support staff who are fully committed to enabling all of our children to achieve to their full potential.
Academically, our children attain very high standards and our results in the end of Key Stage 1 SATs tests are well above UK averages. We are always striving to improve our practice and have implemented initiatives identified as best practice in teaching and learning such as Accelerated Learning, Assessment for Learning and Building Learning Power. We ensure children are central to the learning process and that they share in our high expectations of them, both academically and socially. Support from parents is a key to our success and we work hard to establish open communication with parents and form partnerships that will last throughout your child's time at St Christopher's.
The Infant School is located in new, purpose built facilities alongside the Junior School in Saar. Infant children have access to state of the art resources such as Interactive Whiteboards in all classes, two ICT suites, music practice rooms and a purpose built hall. The Tiger Turf football pitch and swimming pool are also fully utilised in curriculum PE as well as in after-school activities.
Each Year Group is housed in its own wing which we call an "Activity Street ". The environment is wonderfully spacious, with children able to work in their own classroom as well as interacting with their peers in the shared areas. The Nursery classrooms are further enhanced by dedicated outdoor play areas that have their own boundary walls to allow for class play, and gates to access the Nursery playground and its vast array of play equipment.
At St Christopher's Infant School, we strive to create a friendly, attractive and stimulating environment where children can develop basic skills and begin their journey as confident, lifelong learners.
The following pages are constantly being updated and should give you a flavour of the Infant School.
We have tried to include as much detail as we can but we are aware that there we are not able to cover everything.
