Mathematical concepts and understanding, in the Infant years at St Christopher’s, are developed through experiences using concrete apparatus and through problem solving in real life contexts.
As children are developing strong concepts of numbers and operations, relationships are established between these and the abstract mathematical language of symbols and numerals.
Throughout their time in the Infants, children learn and develop counting skills, number facts and an understanding of the way our number system works, on their way to becoming mentally agile mathematicians.
