Welcome to Year 4
|Year 4 at St Christopher’s is a happy and purposeful place to learn and the pupils’ sense of pride in their school is reflected in their confidence and self-esteem. Our learners enjoy a sense of personal achievement, which is celebrated by all.
In Year 4, we ensure that the delivery of our curriculum is exciting, varied and accessible. This means that our pupils look forward to every lesson. Every child’s potential is realised and those with particular areas of academic strength are appropriately stretched. Pupils work predominantly with their class teacher and receive specialist teaching in native or non-native Arabic, French, DT, Art, Music and PE, and enjoy swimming as part of the curriculum. In addition, all the classes have timetabled lessons in a fully equipped ICT suite.
Pupils in Year 4 are fortunate to be able to participate in the Year 4 Challenge Award. Pupils can undertake a new skill or project at home for a minimum of 6 weeks and receive a medallion and certificate for their efforts. Projects are varied and have recently included learning how to BBQ and the organisation of parties and entertainment for a children’s ward at a local hospital.
Our Year 4 pupils take an active part in community service projects and make and sell traditional handicrafts; money raised goes to the Palm Association, who priotises distribution of clothing, basic food and other goods to Bahraini families in need. Year 4 pupils also donate books and organise a second hand book sale to raise funds for the Rainforest Alliance. Our Year 4 pupils contribute to fund raising opportunities throughout the year as part of our “Go Global united world school’s” school building a school project in Cambodia.
Highlights of the year include experiencing a Rainforest Day and Greek Day. Trips to Al Jasr Handicrafts Centre, Al Osra Farm, Al Areen Wildlife Park and The Bahrain National Museum enhance the curriculum further. In Year 4, all pupils are involved in a Year Group production.
