Welcome to Instrumental Music
St Christopher’s Instrumental Music Department inspires pupils to enjoy their music making at all levels, whether that be within the classroom, at home, leading the school orchestra or on music courses overseas. We offer excellent facilities, tuition on a wide range of instruments, a lively and positive atmosphere and endless opportunities for performance.
Individual music tuition is offered on the following instruments:
Instrumental lessons take place during the school day, and are given by professional, qualified instrumental teachers. Lessons at the Infant and Junior Schools are 30 minutes long and rotate throughout the day. At the Senior School they are 40 minutes and rotate through the days that the teacher is present at the school. Lessons are delivered in this way so that academic lessons are not regularly affected. A minimum of 30 lessons are delivered throughout the academic year and more are given if weeks allow. The fee structure for each academic year can be obtained from the Music Administrator or from the Accounts Department in Saar.
Instrumental music tuition follows the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College syllabuses to motivate pupils of all levels and ages, giving them a series of realistic goals and tangible rewards for their achievements. Students are also encouraged to join school ensembles as soon as they are ready to enhance this process and gain enjoyment from playing and singing with others. Opportunities for performance include local and international Music Festivals, formal school concerts, informal lunchtime concerts, British Embassy events and community concerts.
Current School Instrumental Ensembles include:
