Our first House assembly of the year went off with a bang! Reception through to Year 6 sat in their Houses as Mr Holness introduced each of the House Leaders. Each one was dressed from head to toe in their House colours and donned their dancing shoes to boogie down the aisle to their House song. Mrs Holness and Miss Jelley stepped in sync to “Dynamite” to the cheers of Falcon. Miss Lambert and Mr Brandreth followed, raising their arms along with Kestrel to “We Will Rock You.” Next, “Waka Waka” filled the room to the delight of Merlin and the groovy moves of Mrs Mulleague and Mr Stephenson, while Mrs Etches and Mr Evans rounded off the introductions with moves that excited Osprey. Miss Lambert announced the many events planned for the Houses this year and congratulated the Houses on the amount of House points already earned.

Lots of children took their House t-shirts on holiday over the summer. Each child is awarded two house points for bringing a photo in and the House is given 10 house points. A slide show to Madonna’s “Holiday” showed each House t-shirt photo including photos of the mascots enjoying their summer holiday! Osprey were awarded 130 house points, Kestrel were given 90 house points, Merlin 60 house points and Falcon 10 house points. Each photo will be displayed on the House board in the reception area, along with the weekly running totals of House points. You can view the slide show on this website.

As it was National Poetry Day, Ruairi O’Gorman put lots of passion into reading a poem about the Houses. He did a great job and read it with fantastic enthusiasm.

There were over 100 applicants for these responsibilities and Mr Holness found it extremely difficult to choose the captains. Well done to everyone who applied! You are all worthy of the job and are great role models for St Christopher’s. We look forward to an exciting year.
