Environmental Day 22 March 2010

Environmental Day was designed to raise the children’s awareness of a variety of important environmental issues: waste, global warming, renewable energy sources and deforestation. The conservation of water and related themes were also studied, as the twenty-second of March was also World Water Day.

A number of special events took place, including a whole school weaving project using discarded plastic carrier bags, performances of the children’s own environmental ‘rap’ songs, and a competition  to produce ICT based presentations on the related topics. The final event of the day was an assembly which
featured an inter-house quiz which tested the children’s knowledge of their allocated themes.

A thank you to all the children and parents who raised funds for the ‘Buckets of Pennies for Buckets of Water’ appeal. Thousands of coins were collected and brought to school over  the  two weeks leading up to our special day. A grand total of BD 970 was raised for water provision projects throughout the world.
