The week began with each Year Group, from Reception through to Year 6 being invited to “Beat the Teacher” during their break times. There was a huge surprise in Year 3 when Mr Stephenson was beaten by a rather nimble Louis Mulleague.
To be honest it looked as though Louis could have kept going beyond level 10.2 which he reached!
In Year 4, Mr van der Eyken, Mr Coast and Mr Calder took up the challenge, with Mr Coast and Mr Calder faltering at the early stages from strong challenges from the Year 4 children. Danielle Wilkinson out performed the majority of her Year Group and managed to reach level 8.4. One lone pupil was left to do battle with Mr V, that pupil was George Axtell – a tenacious battler.
In the end Mr V just narrowly beat George to an impressive 10.8. Well done George, as Mr V was getting worried!
A huge turnout for the Year 5 bleep test saw over 80 children take on Mr Dawson, Mrs Holness and Mr Holness. After a couple of false starts the children got off to a roaring start. Sophie Holland and Zoe Litherland made good headway, but the teachers started to see the light. Some great effort from Alya and Gregor but it was eventually Charles Sissons pitted against Mr Holness.
Experience told in the end as Mr Holness just managed to hold off the surge from mini Sissons. A great effort from the whole Year Group.
Finally, it was the turn of Year 6 with over half the year group trying to beat Mrs Mulleague, Mr Ross, Mrs Bryne and Mr Holness. Most of the group managed to reach level 5, but then steadily the pupils starting to waiver. A great effort from Ella Huckvale, who nearly managed to out pace Mr Ross. It was down to Mohammed Fazli, Ali Mattar and Ethan Aspin to battle it out with Mr Holness.
Ethan managed a tremendous score of level 12. Well done!
In the Infant School Reception children tried to beat Miss Jackson, Year 1 tried to beat Mr McInroy and Mr Fellows, while Year 2 tried to beat Mr Brandreth and Mrs Ross with their star jumps. They had to perform as many as possible in a minute. It was tricky with Mr McInroy proving the toughest one to beat! However, the maths skills down in the Infant School are shining through with children getting up to 156 jumps in a minute!! Astounding!
